Clean Solar Solutions has completed the solar panel cleaning of a cylindrical solar PV array on the roof of a retail giant in Shrewsbury.
The 50kW solar PV array is not made up of conventional flat polycrystalline or monocrystalline solar panels, but rather it is made up of cylindrical solar PV panels, manufactured by Solyndra.
Solyndra’s solar PV panels are very rare in the UK due the company filing for bankruptcy in September 2011, just as the solar industry was taking off in the UK.
Because of our experience in cleaning some of the most challenging arrays in the UK to date and due to the unusual design of the solar panels, we were contacted by the O&M company in order to provide advice on a safe and effective method of cleaning this solar array. We then needed to devise such a method of cleaning for these unusual arrays.
It presented unique challenges, but we were able to come up with a method which all parties felt was safe and enabled the O&M company to monitor the output of the array.
Since the cleaning of the site in Shrewsbury, we have gone on to clean over 35 such sites for the O&M company where these cylindrical panels are present, from Cornwall all the way up to Manchester.
If you have a Solyndra system or a conventional flat panel solar array which you feel presents unique challenges for cleaning, please feel free to contact us. We are always happy to provide advice.
